Updated @1600 Weather Discussion: Strong high pressure aloft is building offshore today and it will expand inland while continuing to strengthen though midweek keeping California warmer than normal & dry. Record daytime highs will be possible for many regions tomorrow, Wednesday & Thursday. A weak system will "tickle" at the ridge this weekend and then another through the middle of next week.

Snow totals and snow accumulation are consistently 15 to 20% more than reported as a result of wind, micro squalls and snow loading. Weather patterns at Kirkwood Mountain Resort are exceedingly difficult to predict – when venturing into the mountain, be prepared for rapid, dramatic weather changes.

Kirkwood Cross Country & Snowshoe Center Open

Our winter events calendar is up online @http://winter.kirkwood.com/site/events-activities/events-calendar. Full Moon tours, lessons, rentals and more.. We have 8 kilometers of groomed trails for skiing and 8 kilometers of snowshoe trails. The trails have excellent coverage.The $12 trail pass is good for all 16 kilometers of trails. The $24 rental fee allows you to exchange ski gear for snowshoes to enjoy both sports .

Special Events & Remarks

Come explore the High Sierra on snowshoes under the light of the moon on one of our Full Moon Snowshoe Treks. This hike is open to all ability and fitness levels and is a great way to experience the stunning landscape surrounding Kirkwood. Call the Cross Country center at 209-258-7248 for more information or to make a reservation. Next Full Moon tour February 8th - Time: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Cost: $25 + $5 for rentals
