Kirkwood is a Class A (most dangerous) avalanche area. Our Ski Patrol Team works tirelessly to ensure the resort is safe to ski. Please observe and respect our ski area and avalanche closure boundaries.
Planning a trip into the Backcountry or Sidecountry? Kirkwood is surrounded by some amazing terrain, but keep in mind that when you go exploring out of bounds, you’re on your own – no Ski Patrol and no snow safety. Avalanche danger is real - keep yourself in the know and check conditions before you head out. Go to the Sierra Avalanche Center for daily backcountry forecasts and observations.
