Group Lessons
Skiing
Learn To Ski
This is the ultimate introduction to the sport of skiing! With our qualified instructors, exceptional beginner terrain and specialized equipment, you will quickly learn the basic skills and techniques. In your first lesson you will learn how to use your equipment, get on and off the chairlift and use wedge turns to control speed and stop or your next lesson is on us!
Level 2-6 Ski
Once you have the basics down, fine tune your skills in our level 2-6 classes. Level 2-4 lessons are for beginners who are comfortable on green runs and looking to improve their turns and progress to intermediate terrain. Level 5-6 lessons are for intermediate skiers who are comfortable in the fall line and want to get more proficient matching their skis. These lessons will give you the techniques to get you to the next level.
Ski lesson times: AM session - 10:30am - 1:00pm, PM session - 1:30pm - 4:00pm. Registration cuts off promptly half an hour before lesson start time. Participants are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to lesson start time. Lessons meet in the fenced area below Chair 9. Note that if there is only 1 or 2 participants, lesson may be considered semi-private and only run for 1.5 hours.
Snowboarding
Learn to Ride
Our qualified instructors will guide you through your first day of snowboarding. Your session will cover how to use your equipment, getting on and off the lift without falling, executing different turn shapes, controlling speed and stopping where and when you want.
Women’s Learn To Ride
We are proud to offer women’s specific lessons. Let Kirkwood's certified instructors give you the proper tools and techniques to succeed. All Women's LTR Packages come with women specific equipment designed to increase the comfort level and speed up the learning curve. Please note that the Women's Learn to Ride class will only run if there are at least 3 participants, if there are only 1 or 2 participants the Women's LTR class will be merged with the equivalent LTR class.
2-6 Snowboard Lessons
For those who already know how to ride, this is the package for you. Our Level 2-4 Lessons are for comfortable beginners (Green Circles) looking to link turns consistently, explore new terrain and progress to our intermediate chair. Our Level 5-6 Lessons are for intermediate (Blue Squares) riders who are comfortable in the fall line and want to get more dynamic and move onto the next level. Our Level 5-6 Lesson Packages explore the gullies and trees off chair 7 while introducing the pipe and park as well as riding switch and working on carving.

Registration Information
- Program space is limited.
- Pre-registration is available until 2:00pm on the day prior to participation, lessons can be purchased online or by calling 209.258.7754.
- Participants who do not pre-register need to arrive early to ensure placement in the program.
- All participants should be checked in or in line at the Kirkwood Ski & Ride School desk by 9:30am at the latest, including those who are pre-registered, in order to make the lesson on time.
- Program participants are required to come equipped with appropriate attire and accessories such as water resistant pants, jacket and gloves. Glasses for sunny days and goggles/hat for snowy days.
Registration Times
- 8:30am to 10:00am Monday through Friday
- 8:00am to 10:00am Weekends and holidays
- Registration for the morning lesson closes promptly at 10:00am
- Registration for the afternoon lesson closes promptly at 1:00pm
Adult Lesson Cancellation Policy
All reservations must be canceled or changed 24 hours before the scheduled lesson date. If the reservation is not canceled within this timeframe, a $50 processing fee will be imposed. All No Call No Shows will be charged the full prices of the lesson. To cancel or change a lesson reservation, please contact Kirkwood Ski & Ride School at 209.258.7754. Our reservation center is open 7-days a week from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m; if you call after hours, you will have the option to leave a message for cancellations only, no reservations will be accepted on voicemail.
