Ski Patrol Presentations

The Kirkwood Ski Patrol has offered to host several presentations in the KCA Club. The topics and dates are noted below. All dates are subject to change depending on snow safety needs of the mountain. Presentations will be led by Kirkwood Ski Patroller, Kip McCarthy, and his amazing avalanche dog, Logan. Guest presenters will include Kirkwood Ski Patrollers, our experts on the topics. All presentations start at 6 pm.

  • January 26th – Mountain Snow Safety presentation. Learn how ski patrollers and the mountain operations team perform snow safety here at Kirkwood and how you can assist in order to gain access to more terrain more quickly.
  • February 9th – Mountain Medical presentation. Have you ever seen an accident on the mountain and not known what to do? Learn what to do if you see an accident and how you can assist ski patrol.
  • March 23rd – Avalanche Awareness presentation. Learn resources available to be better avalanche aware. Also learn about Kirkwood’s local avalanche hazards.
  • April 13th – Beyond the Boundaries presentation. As the resort comes to a close you may be thinking about a little back country skiing. This presentation will help you prepare for your adventure beyond the boundaries. Learn what to pack, where to go and what to be alert for to stay safe.
