Good evening from the desk of the Coop!
What a day I had out here at a place I call my home Kirkwood! Just a simple hike not very loner just 2hrs start to finish. But what I discovered I those short 2hrs was wonderful. Who said the Wildflower festival was a few weeks ago? If you even doubt a trip up here to the Wood & the Sierra’s just flip through the photos from today and I think you might just change your mind…
I started the day out at the Kirkwood General Store, Water, Cliff Bar, dog treats & Skeeter juice! All good! If you need a libation, breakfast, cup “o” joe, lunch or dinner or just an energy bar, they have it all…
A simple start at the base of Chair One we (TaTonka & Sakima & I) were off on our journey. Within a short 10 minutes we began to view hillsides of beautiful wild flowers filing the hillsides with bright colors. I took note that the trail I was on was part of our Mountain Bike park trail system. The trail was lined with Yellow, purple, red & orange…
The views just kept becoming more colorful, brighter; it seemed as if all the worlds’ burdens were lifted. As I ascended up into that magical place, the higher I climbed and the further we walked the more comfortable with the day I became.
What is amazing to me is this is our Kona mountain bike park trail system. The view is just fantastic. The scents were alive with the smell of fresh flowers. The view of the (Forbidden Zone) was such a stoke! I was looking for that last line today in Thunder Saddle…. Hmmm…. Maybe Just one more hike & ski?
The dudes were enjoying the adventure to its fullest today. Plenty of water still moving as you make your way up the hill. Sea upon sea of flowers! The bike park trails are in great shape with trails for all abilities. Rentals are available in the High Adventure Alpine Center shared with the crew @ Zip Tahoe.
Now that is another adventure here at the Wood both in winter & summer. I was super stoked to get to hang with the crew Elliot, Wade & Kyle a few evenings ago… What a super fun time! My stoke meter was pinned. Good for the whole family, though there is a 85lbs weight requirement… Sorry. Check with Jocelyn & I am sure she can square you away! A “Coop” must for the summer here at the Wood Zip Tahoe… Huge shout out to the Zip crew!
I arrived at the top of Chair Two and the dudes and I decided to look into the Saddle & back to Chair Four…
Ricky, Kevin & Marty have been keeping the trails primed for you! They even lined them with flowers!
From the top of Thunder Saddle we could see all! Such a great feeling to be on top of the World!
If you thought the summer was over, I want to ensure you it is not. The hiking is the best it has been all summer, the mountain bike park is primed for your enjoyment; Zip Tahoe adds a whole new experience to our world here @ 7800’ Kirkwood. Hiking, Biking, Camping, Fishing or zipping the Wood, the next three weeks we have the best on the Tahoe region right here in the (209)! Come on up and spend a few nights with us.
