DAIEK & BOZACK LEAD GOING INTO DAY TWO

The morning started clear, but visibility was in and out throughout the day. With four inches of light snow, on top of ice, the conditions were a bit crunchy. "Awesome riding today, insane shredding, I was blown away; you didn't make it easy on the judges," said Competition Director Patrick Brennan. "You all made it look super fun considering conditions were not ideal." Brian Bozack took first for men with an 83.33, followed closely by Tim Carlson in second with 83.00 and Adam Bilings in third with a score of 79.67.

"It's pretty cool," said competitior Brian Bozack. "The venue today was challenging but resembled all of Crystal's beautiful terrain. I'm pretty excited about The King tomorrow." For women, Rosemarie Diaek took the top spot with a 77.00. Canadian Michelle Locke took second with a 75.00 and Tiffany Noel came in third with a 74.67. "I'm psyched about qualifying first today," said Rosemarie Daiek. "The venue let me ride how I can ride and that's what really felt good. I'm excited to ride The King, and I'm looking for a nice, fluid and strong line and hoping I do well."

Following the competition, riders did a visual inspection of Finals venue The King. Head Judge Tom Burt cautioned that the venue is quite icy. The riders right side has a lot more snow, and competitors were encouraged to choose their lines on that side of the venue. Due to variable conditions, tomorrow's results will be based on one run, instead of best of two. "Today was a great little starter test for tomorrow's venue," said Announcer Nick Perata. "Tomorrow is much bigger, possibly icier in spots. Tomorrow will be the call, we're gonna see who actually is the best snowboarder." The competition is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. PST with ladies running first. Watch it all go down LIVE at www.thenorthfacemasters.com.
