This last Saturday, the 4th annual Girl Powder Queen of the Park contest took over the K2 Stomping Grounds! A custom terrain park was built for the event and the ladies came out and ripped and represented! SF based dj, DJ ICON spun tunes and kept the crowd amped.
“This year’s turnout for Queen of the Park was by far the best we’ve had to this date,” states GIRL POWDER founder and CEO Joel Lackovich. “It was great to see the competitors giving it their all and really inspiring to see how girls from last year’s competition have really improved over the past year. The crowd provided tons of support and by the end of the competition, everyone was on their feet dancing to DJ ICON’s music and encouraging the girls who were competing.”
Congratulations to Maddie Bowman (skier), and Julianne Brackett (snowboarder) who walked away with the 'Queen of the Park' title at the end of the day.
“The competition was so close that it was nearly impossible to just choose two winners”, commented Alanna Chatfield, Public Relations Associate for GIRL POWDER. “All of the girls did such an amazing job out there and truly helped propel the event and GIRL POWDER ‘s message of female empowerment, especially in athletics, to new heights. We feel that the ski and snowboard community needs more events like these for female athletes and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
